UNION GLASHÜTTE - 1893 Large second and 1893 Small second

A m 1 January 1893 founded Johannes Dürrstein, then owner of a successful watch wholesaler to "watch factory Union Glashütte" and started immediately with the production. 120 years later Union Glashütte with the models 1893 Great Second and 1893 small second to the year of the company founding. Both timepieces combine a traditional look with unconventional stylistic elements. Thus two very adult-looking models have emerged, which due to their unusual details should also please watchers with a softness for unusual details.

The classic character of the 1893 Great Second is due in particular to the design of the dial, which is available either in silver or in anthracite: the fine embossing and the Roman hour digits of the main dial are reminiscent of traditional watchmaking. This distinctive style is underlined by a sapphire crystal on both sides. On the other hand, the horizontal arrangement of the two dials is avant-garde: the large second with the date window is located at the right at 3 o'clock, while the main dial is moved to the left and has been reduced in favor of this arrangement.

Also at the 1893 Small Second Union Glashütte uses an asymmetrical arrangement and places the small second at 7 o'clock. On the other hand, the main dial is accommodated in this model in the usual size and position. The date display is at 3 o'clock. Here too, Roman numerals and the fine embossing of the dial provide a traditional look that is rounded off by the curved sapphire glass.

Both the 1893 Big Second and the 1893 Small Seconds feature a curved transition from a stainless steel case to a leather bracelet with a noble crocodile pattern. The housing diameter is 41 millimeters. Inside, an automatic movement with 42 hours of gear reserve. The watches are waterproof up to a pressure of 10 bar (100m).

The model Union Glashütte 1893 Large second is available with silver-colored dial and black leather strap or anthracite dial and brown leather strap for 1.880,00 Euro / CHF 2.050,00 * each. The model Union Glashütte 1893 Small second is available with silver dial and black leather strap or with black dial and brown leather strap for 1.680 Euro / CHF 1.850,00 * as well as in a version with stainless steel band.
